With some awesome day trip options available in the surrounding area, having your own car makes good sense. Without one, it’d be much more difficult to experience everything that Murom, 25 miles away, has to offer. Statue of Ilya Muromets, Murom Bylina Stone and Blagoveschensky Monastery alone make the drive out worthwhile. Locals are also likely to point you in the direction of Vladimir, 60 miles away. If you can only see one attraction here, make sure it’s Vladimir Central Prison. (But we’re also huge fans of Roman Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary and Golden Gates of Vladimir.)
