If you’re after day-trip inspiration, we’ve got a couple of tips. Sitting 35 miles away, Vladimir is worth jumping in the car for. Vladimir Central Prison, Roman Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary and Golden Gates of Vladimir alone make the drive out worth it. The locals will also likely point you toward Murom, 55 miles away. If you can only find time for one attraction here, make sure it’s Statue of Ilya Muromets. (But we’d also recommend Murom Bylina Stone and Blagoveschensky Monastery.)
