With some great day trip options available in the surrounding area, having your own car makes sense. Without one, it’d be much more difficult to explore everything that Charleston, 30 miles away, has to offer. Charleston Town Center, Southridge Center and West Virginia State Capitol Building alone make the drive out worthwhile. Locals will also probably point you in the direction of Parkersburg, 45 miles away. If you can only find time for one attraction here, make sure it’s Grand Central Mall. (But we’d also highly recommend Lee Middleton Doll Museum and Smoot Theater.)
